brad pitt.jpgA political thriller “State of Play” was to star Pitt as a political consultant turned journalist who helps investigate the death of a congressman’s mistress. The movie was planned to film this year. But Pitt has pulled himself out of Universal Pictures Production because he was unhappy with the script. Now the production house is looking for someone to replace Pitt.

The producers said, “Brad Pitt has left the production of State of Play. We remain committed to this project and to the filmmakers, cast members, crew and others who are also involved in making the movie. We reserve all rights in this matter.”

“State of Play” would have re-teamed Pitt with his “Fight Club” co-star Edward Norton, who plays a congressman whose rapid political ascent is threatened by an investigation into the death of his mistress. The film was also set to star Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman and Robin Wright Penn.
