‘The Pirates of The Caribbean’ Sequel Repeats as the Top Film
posted in Breaking News |“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” is the top movie for the second weekend in a row. It already brought an estimated $62.2 million in ticket sales.
“Pirates of Caribean”, which stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, grossed $258.2 million since it opened on July 7. Its $135.6 million debut created opening-day, two-day and weekend records. The $55.5 million sales on July 7 for “Pirates” marked the highest single-day gross for any film in box-office history.
This success of the sequel is a boost for the Disney studio. Now the studio is planning to release its third installment next year and may also produce a fourth film.
“The opening was so huge that they were still going to have a tremendous second weekend. It’s the new `Indiana Jones.’”’ said Brandon Gray, the president of Box Office Mojo LLC.
Disney’s “Pirates,” which returns with original cast members Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, beat the $34 million second-week take of 2003’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”,” Gray said.
Let us see how many new records this sequel is going to create.
